My new car has overdrive. I'm clueless! What does this mean and what does it do? Does it use up more gas?

Thanks!

I find it kind of interesting what people without CDLs can drive...
Light Duty non CDL
Class 1 - 6,000 lb and under
Class 2 - 6,001 to 10,000 lb
Class 3 - 10,001 to 14,000 lb
Medium Duty non CDL unless air-over-hydraulic breaking system the Class C with air break endorsement. Class C is mostly used for medium duty buses.
Class 4 - 14,001 to 16,000 lb
Class 5 - 16,001 to 19,500 lb
Class 6 - 19,501 to 26,000 lb
Heavy Duty Class B CDL, air brake endorsement if applicable
Class 7 - 26,001 to 33,000 lb
Class 8 - 33,001 lb and over
Tractor trailers over 26,000 lb are all Class 8 and require a Class A CDL.
Some manufacturers use hydraulic brakes in large vehicles to avoid the need for CDL. Some will put in a reduced capacity rear axle in a Class 7 truck to get it slightly under CDL weight.
I think this is very dangerous. I think all vehicles that weigh in as Class 6 and above (19,501 lbs) should require a CDL. It will add to costs of equipment and labor, but make roads safer for everyone.

Just got a new corvette (2006) Corvette C6 with 400 base horse power. I love it, and it was only about 32,000 so i am really happy with it. It is super fast, but i want to increase it's 0-60 time from 4.4 to about 3.0. I want to take the 400 base horse power and make it about 750-900 horse power. If someone out there could help me out a little, i want ot make this thing fight with the saleen s7 and the dodge vipers out there, let alone smoke every ferrari on the road. Help me out! please include links and very specific information on how to increase my horse power... and my speed. I am looking to spend maybe 20,000 bucks total on upgrades

None of the major truck rental places rent flatbed or stake bed trucks for one-way trips. I am moving some robots, and they are seven and a half feet tall, so they don't fit in most box trucks. The weight of the total load is 15,000 lbs. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Lets say you want to build your own car. Is there a sort of guideline that you can follow so that you can have your car inspected so that it can be road legal?

Can you dig into the ground, or do you actually need a pile of loose dirt to move? I'm going to try to build a small motocross track, and need to know if i would need a small backhoe too.

My guess is $3.10/gal. People have adjusted to $2.50 so they are using nearly as much as before.

First group have a small fleet of these spread around the UK, but I just love the ones at First Edinburgh. They seem to have a high rate of availability and they have a distinctive whine, Metrobus like, that can be heard long before you see the bus. I have heard drivers complain that they have poor accleration, but the FED examples seem to travel at a fair rate of knots. I accept that the Alexander PS/Volvo B10m is a better bus, but how does the Merc compare with the other chassis, Scania/Dennis and the Volvo B10BLE and B7.

I am going to take my driver's permit written test, and I was told that there are different versions in the same language, so where can I find online the different versions? I wanted to see them so I have an idea of what they look like. I live in California, in case that helps a little. Thank you.

This really annoys me - to the people at peugeot have no imagination? (no offense!) If u were to line all their cars up, you would have great difficulty in saying which one is which. Why? Why do they have to use tracing paper to design their new cars?
