the best question this year. why do they? even if acceleration is a good thing, a limit on speed should be standard. a limiter switch of sorts. so we could still take off fast to reach the speed limit, but we wouldnt be at ridiculous speeds.
allowing cars to exceed the limits by twice, or 3 times, shows a flawed system.
its like giving people guns and saying dont shoot, or giving them drugs and saying be responsible, dont abuse them...

Because people like them. And so what if they can go fast. And the patrol is a necessary evil who do a reasonably good job at what they are for. Most of those high performance cars are safe at speed and don't get driven crazily anyway because of the patrol. The cars show their stuff on drag strips and closed road courses when they want to go fast. Competition is fun and you can win some prize money to boot.
So if you don't like 'em, don't buy one. But don't you DARE say I can't have one!

Because usually cars that reach 150 mph are performance sports/muscle cars such as the 2002 Camaro z28 or the 2005 Mustang GT.Usually when we buy a muscle car it does not stay stock.Since our car is not stock we take it to the drag strip to see how fast it will go.Thats what they are built fast for right?performance cars with a max speed of 95 mph just dont cut it there at the strip. That is why america builds fast cars,to continue the american hobby of racing.

Well, like you said, the law is aginst going that fast in most states, not having the ability to do so. This "excessive" maximum speed is a by-product of having enough power for good low-end acceleration as well as fuel-saving aerodynamic designs. Also, as long as the car makers are in competition, fast sells.

i don't be attentive to approximately area-age gadgets - those I actual have now are extra desirable than sufficient for me to deal with on an analogous time as i'm meant to be focusing on making use of. My suggestions are extra earthly. A automobile that should run on water or maybe air, might make a great impression on lowering the stranglehold on dissimilar the international's worldwide places by potential of the oil-producing worldwide places - to not point out making working a automobile much less of a luxurious. i might like an illuminated message board gadget for conveying messages to different street clientele, jointly with "you have not have been given your lighting fixtures fixtures on" or "Your gown is trapped interior the automobile door and is blowing interior the wind" or "I in simple terms observed you throw that banana pores and skin out of the automobile window, you filthy pig" ... that style of element. An convey/instantaneous de-mister may be great. a great-perspective reversing help (not mirrors yet a reveal screen in front of you) may be reachable, as might a gadget which enable's you be attentive to whilst your front or rear bumper is interior of an inch of a wall or different impediment whilst parking. according to danger those final 2/3 products exist already yet basically on suitable-of-the-variety autos or commercial autos.

i own a shop, and the majority of my customer want this ,they actually care less about money and fuel now,and want speed, and the faster the better, its kind of odd and fuel being high as it is,you,d think everyone would want to save money, but right now we all seem to be on the fast track again, and as long as the public demands it, the car makers will build them,I'm kind of conservative right now,i want the most miles i can get to the gallon, but people are going backwards in stead of forwards ,and until we slow down we,ll see street production cars going well above 150 mph,i don't know where they,ll drive them at,but they make them, and people will buy them, good luck,i hope this help,s.

I would have to say because of money. Automakers make money off of young or old people wanting to get the thrill of going fast and at the same time it provides jobs to cops and they get money from speeding tickets... the answer 9 times out of 10 is money!

Just because the speedo has that number on it does not mean the car can achieve that speed. But even it the car could achieve that speed, the driver would always want to go past it. It is the competitive nature of man - even if he is just challenging himself.

Lol! I was just thinking about that the other day!! But then I thought about it, and the answer that came to me was "Then we would be putting tons of patrol men out of work," or "Police would make less money," or "People would find a way to rig their cars up to go fast anyway!" :D

That's a damn good question...........maybe because one out of every 25 million people will have the chance to fly that car to Germany and run it on the Audobon.
