I would suggest that you shop around, depending on what makes and models of vehicles that appeal to you, test drive a few before deciding on a particular make of vehicle. Personally I would get a Honda Accord, or Toyota Camry, both are excellent on gas mileage, and pretty nicely equipped too. Depending on where you live if you get snow, you might look into a Subaru or any other car that offers all wheel drive.
Good luck on your purchase, and if you have any further questions feel free to email me at wsevier@yahoo.com.

Look for a car with 4 cyclinders. They use and burn less gas. Like a civic or a honda or a V W. The more cyclinders a car has the more power it produces. It needs more gas to burn. That is why sports cars and SUV's have 8 or 10 cyclinders. So they can go fast or pull heavy loads. 4 cyclinders make great commuter cars cause they are cheap on gas.

go for the mazda 3. it received top scores in government safety tests. if ur parents want more reassurance that a mazda is safe, heres some help. mazda is owned by ford which also owns volvo. volvo shares their safety technology with all the ford brands. ive driven that car and it works great in every way. have fun! if youre parents dont mind spending more money then go for the volvo s40. its a beautiful car and is as safe as a tank. shy away from those tin cans built by toyota and honda and hyundai and stuff. good luck!

Smaller cars less safer, better milage, and often more on the insurance. Smaller cars usually go faster...as they are lighter weight.
Let them get you what they want, save your money, and later on get what you want!!!
