Motorcycles - December 2007

I am lucky enough to have a pretty large collection of motorcycles and have actually only ever sold about three and kept the fifteen others that have come into my life. If times got really bad then I guess I could sell them all with the exception of my 1981 Triumph T140ES 750 Bonneville, which I bought when I was an apprentice and is even in my will being mentioned that it is not to be sold or passed outside the family.
However are there any bikes for any reason that you have sold that you wished you had kept and if so why. If not you then any friends with a similar case. I worked with a guy once who sold his original BSA Gold Star for a hundred quid, it would be worth a fortune now.
I do wish I had kept my first ever powered two wheeler which was Velo Solex that ended up in the skip. I had so much fun on that as a kid riding up and down my parents drive for hour after hour.

i just picked up a motorcycle handbook from my local DMV

and i read it all the way through

two questions still are lingering

1. it says lane sharing is illegal, but what about lane splitting? i know it's legal in CA, but what are the limitations on it?

2. it talks about parking a little, like it has to be 90 degrees to the curb, but when im at my local supermarket, i see motorcycles parked right up next to the automated door.
so are motorcycles free to park in places other than the marked stalls in the parking lot?

I bought 2 identical 1993 bayou 220 from a freind not running got one running good. The other will start fine if you give it a little gas or spray some starting fluidin the carb and then willrun but you have 2 hold the throttle in a little bit. The carb has been rebuilt professionaly. it also back fires once in a while out the carb back into the air box. i need 2 know the factory settings for the side mounted carb adjustment and the one on the bottom. that would help me out greatly any other info would be appreciated

im thinking about buying a bike. most likly like a suzuki style crotch rocket. I havent ridden any bikes really at all. I just want to know the risk/rewards of having a bike. what are the odds of getting in a wreck? is it worth it? insurance cost is a big one? im 18 any ideas how much for liability insurance

Do you need special oil for motorcycles when doing an oil change? I've got some Castrol GTX 10W-40 for my Kawasaki ER5, but it doesn't say it's specifically for motorcycles, but does that even matter?

I heard an advertisment on the radio recently saying you can protect your chrome from moisture over the winter if you combine charcoal and kitty litter in a container and place it under your motorcycle cover - can't remember how much of each to use, however. Anyone else know any details about this?

Me and my Dad are thinking about getting an AATV next year for hunting but in NH the AATV is to big and heavy to register as an ATV. Can you just register an AATV as an OHRV or do I have to register as somthing else?
