What I'm looking for is an affordable, reliable, motorcycle to purchase as my first. It's something I want to use as my everyday vehicle. It can be standard, cruiser, or even a different type, just offer justification for your choice.

Thanks for the help!

I am riding and restoring a 1980 kawasaki 650 Four F1 motorcycle, and decided to try and polish the aluminum engine side cases due to them being tarnished and corroded beneath the plastic coating due to the age of the machine. Other than sandpaper or steel wool, I was hoping there might be an easier and less obtrusive technique for removing the protective plastic coating from the aluminum parts on my bike?

I'm thinking of learning a bit more about engines and how they work - basic mechanics - can you recommend a good simple bike to start on. What about a Honda cub?

I live in Oregon (winter's on it's way) and am thinking about getting a motorcycle. I grew up around them, so I'm not an idiot, and definitely plan on taking a rider's course once I decide, but I need help looking at different makes and models. Any advice out there?
