get your exaust nice and hot. take a non-abrasive cloth that will not melt. cotton works well. take cloth and put a good amount of some laquer thiner on it. rub spot with cloth. heat will dry cloth out so keep wetting it with the thinner. keep rubbing and wetting untill spot is gone. this is the best way to remove it without scratching the chrome. it may take a some time but it works. if u use steel wool or try to scrape it with something u will scratch the crome beyond repair.

Leave the pipes cold (better for your hands)... then take the combination of a new Brillo pad and a liberal amount of elbow grease.

Steel wool is a bit too abrasive... but the Brillo with its soap will do the trick.

With all of the above answers, be careful not to get any of the chemicals on your plastics. They'll melt pretty quick with some of that corrosive petroleum stuff.

Heat and goo gone, or oven cleaner. DO NOT use anything abrasive on your chrome, you WILL scratch it, and you can not remove the scratches.
