check engine light camo on in my 1990 4 runner 2 weeks ago,....now when i start her....me brake light and battery light are on as well......i drove about 10 miles the other day then the lights got real dim, i was afraid to shut it off..........lil bit later.....the lights got real bright again.....any ideas

Also, should i change the transmission oil, and if yes, is it a good idea to use only toyota oil or are there others just as good? price is no problem. i just bought this car and i want to keep it in good running condition, since i dont know how it was treated before. i already changed its tires and am working on replacing brake pads. thanks.

i have an argument i'd like to settle... a friend has a 2002 highlander he is convinced that leaving his dome light on has twice killed his battery...though i am sure that is draining the battery should it be killing it or is there possibly more to this ie;alternator trouble or other electrical problems...he is quite old and is leaving on a road trip and i think he needs to have this checked out...he is satisfied with the fact that jumping it got it going again.

i've been to probably about a dozen junkyards and i 've had no luck finding one. apparently this happens alot considering it is just plastic. i have found some on the web for $100 or more. that is more than i want to spend, i plan on keeping this car till it dies so i really don't care if the color is exact

got a 99 4runner with about 130g miles on d clock.its a 99 4runner limited srs.it idles rough and has black smoke comin out d exhaust after its been idleing 4 sometime,in D.also when its on D the idle is quite low and unsteady at about 500 rpm.i've recently put a new fuel pump,filter,had the injectors cleaned,new sparkplugs(twin electrode).all these havent seemed to stop this problem.the spark plugs seem to be workin fine(light brown cores) but theres black smoke comin out the exhaust,dont know why.what could be the cause of this?possible causes?could it be electrical?

my 94 toyota was fine till it sat for a few days in real cold weather then i got in it and drovr it the speedo acted funny? it didn"t wanna move up to speed till i got it warmed upa nd on down the road? seemed kinda sluggish? the miles and trip work great just the speed hand was acting up? would the speed sensor on the tranny be goin bad? thanks?

Hello,

A recent problem I've been experencing is that my Toyota will not shift out of park unless I turn on my lights. Once I turn on my lights, I can shift to drive, turn the lights off, and shift to anything else I want, as long as I don't put it in park again (at that point I would have to turn on the lights again).

Other info: It all started when all of my back lights went out. At that point, I couldn't shift out of park at all, even with the lights on. I replaced a fuse, the back lights came on, and then I could shift out of park only when I turn the lights on. Does anyone have any idea on why this would be happening?

Any help would be appreciated.
