Don't you just love your Honda? I've had mine for 8 years now and NO PROBLEMS. No mechanical breakdowns. One minor little thing, and I can't even remember what it was now. My gosh, I never want to buy another car.

Some mysterious object hit my gf's Honda Civic front bumper through the left side. (We couldn't find the object, no other cars around) - anyhow it penetrated through the bumper and clipped a plastic tank inside the bumper. This small tank contained coolant.

The tank itself is intact. The black tube that leads from the bottom of this tank up towards the radiator shattered at the point that it joined to the plastic tank. The plastic tank is now empty.

It was dark out and I could not see enough to be more specific. I'll return today and get the problem resolved.

Questions:

Assuming there is coolant in the radiator itself will it be safe for the engine if I drive the car far enough (less < 10 miles) to get it to a mechanic?? I'm concerned about overheating and don't know if this tank is part of the engine coolant's circulation system or if its just an extra reservoir.

What is the name of the part at the bottom of the plastic tank where the plastic tube hooks in?

Ok, so yesterday I posted a question asking "Do you get tired of being too nice to people whilst you're driving?" So today I was driving in the left hand lane. The speed limit posted was 40 mph, but the flow of traffic was more like 60 mph. So I see this Toyota Corolla having "unlawful carnal knowlege" with my car's rear. I'm driving a Honda Civic. Mind you, both cars are economy cars and are similiar in size. Normally I'll move over for much larger vehicles. ( 18 wheelers, SUV's trucks and other larger cars ) But I do have my limits! I'm driving a Honda, the other person was driving a Toyota. The way I see it? Honda Civics rule and Toyota Corollas drool! GO AROUND! I'm not moving! :) Vain? You bet! Comments?

On a trip I had screaming front brakes b/c they filled with dirt and gravel, Honda charged me to blow them out, now they are making a metal to metal sound when it has been sitting overnight or longer. Honda is telling me that it is my responsiblity to "wash" the wheels better to prevent this and they are going to continue to charge me to blow out the brakes! Has anyone heard of such a thing on these Civics? This is just ONE of a list of issues I have with this car. In all my years, even 4x4 ing I have never had this problem. It is almost brand new! No one I know that drives on the same roads as I do is having this issue either! Anyone?

I would just add details to my previous question, but my browser does not support it.

My intake manifold runner control is either stuck open, or not opening and closing properly. Where do I look to see if it is moving?

Was looking at cold air intake, but it seems that only a true high-dollar, filter outside the engine compartment CAI would be effective. Heard that using a "tornado" insert and a regular K&N air filter would do better for increasing performance and mileage than an under the hood CAI pipe and filter. Also have heard tons about "chip" upgrades. I know I want it all, but I truly want to increase performance, as well as mileage, and DO NOT want to have a grapefruit shooter exhaust. Those things are pathetic. You've got to be able to get performance and mileage some other way. I've done brakes, rotors, starters, plugs, alternators, and other minor stuff on cars (can follow Haynes with no probs), but nothing for performance.

For the record, I'd be extremely happy with 2-6mpg increase and 5-10 horse increase, but don't want to sacrifice one for the other.

Also, best brands info would be nice, as well.

Thanks in advance!

Hi. I have a 2005 Honda Civic, and just took it in for service today (at about 29,000 miles) I just got a call from the dealership telling me that the front break pads are almost worn out. It would be ok, but the problem is that this is the second time this has happened since I bought this car new 2 years ago. The first time the dealer even ended up waving any charges because the agreed that there had been some problem with the brakes since they shouldn't wear out after some 12,000 miles. I'm an average driver, so, I wonder if I'm the only one getting this kind of problem? Thanks!

I am planning to replace the stock rims on a 2005 Honda Pilot LX with rims from a Pilot EX. I'm told the TPMS light will be lit all the time if you do not have the sensors attached. Are they on the inside or outside of the rim and how are they removed? Thanks.

I have a 95 Honda Prelude. I recently spent a ton of money fixing everything that was wrong with it. Steering rack, all brakes, power steering pump seals, and most importantly, my clutch. I drove it after being fixed for about 90 miles and then it started popping out of 5th gear and into neutral on me. It was also making a funny noise in or around the tranny too. It always grinded going into 5th but never popped out until after they replaced my clutch. I called the place back and they said that they don't hear a noise and they drove it on the interstate for a while and it never popped out of gear for them. Is there anyway that my sycroles got worse just from them taking out the tranny? How about the throw out bearing? If anyone ahs any ideas I would l.ove to hear them ASAP as I have an appointment this morning at the place to take it out for a ride with them to see if it pops out of gear again. Thank you kindly.
