I have a 1990 BMW 525i. The transmission was just recently replaced. I know this was dumb, but while I was driving, I accidentally put the car into park, and it started grinding really bad. It has one of those shifters down on the center console. It had a button you had to push to shift, which now doesn't work. The button is just loose and doesn't do anything when you push it. When it's in "park" on any amount of slope, the car drifts, and you hear a clicking sound from under the car somewhere.

Is there a simple fix for this, and what is wrong. Also is this a sign that the transmission is only going to get worse. Please advise.

The rubber window molding around the side/rear windows is cracking and falling off. Is anyone else having this problem. Will BMW do anything about it? How much is it to replace? Any input/comments are appreciated!!!!!

The last few cars I've bought are brand new Japanese superminis, costing about £9-10k. I have been happy with them, and they've been totally reliable, but I've toyed with the idea of spending a similar amount of money on a 3-4 year old BMW 320d. Is this a good idea, would such a car be as reliable, and are they as good to drive as some make out? Comments appreciated, thanks.

The top radiator hose on my old 525 split and it lost a lot of water (but didn't overheat ) when the steam had died down I replaced the hose and refilled the radiator but a plastic object popped up into the rad filler neck. It is an off white plastic tube about 2" long and about 3/4" diam the walls are 1/8" thick and has a top which comes off if twisted out of two grooves and there is a sealing ring between the top and the body. Everything appears to work OK (heater gets hot car doesn't overheat and all the warning lights are normal. Anybody got any ideas what this might be or where it's come from?

my dad is about to lease a new vehicle (we always lease) he said he wants a hot car that will make him feel young again he says "i want to feel the wind in my hair" lol so obviously a convertible. i don't know why. and he said i could choose between 3 cars for him, the choices are Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet or BMW 6 series 650i or mercedes benz SL 550 roadster. i really don't care what my dad said i can choose i don't know why he thinks i know more about cars. i know my dad's a speedster he has a few speeding tickets so what's the safest car of the 3 and the slowest of the 3, and most fuel efficient, and most luxurious? I AM ONLY ASKING OF THOSE 3

Hello, i am a 40 year old executive CEO of a major corporation in America, and might i add happily married and father of 3. I am interested in learing "Ghost Riding" so that i can impress clients when taking them out to lunch. Does anyone know of any websites that give tips on this new craze? I own a BMW and a Mini Van. Would i be better off using the van or the BMW? Is their any young people who might be able to meet with me on the weekends to help give me training on Ghost Riding?
Thank you.

I can't remember how much this additional service contract costs, but at the time when I purchased my used 330i 2003 BMW, it seemed way too much! Has anyone really done the math or has first hand experience to see if this upfront cost is really worth it. I felt that the total repair costs from an independent good BMW mechanic would be much less than the service contract, especially for oil changes (every 10,000 miles), brakes and rotors. I can take care of the fluids and wiper blades -so no big deal there. The gamble of course is major engine or transmission problem between the years 4 - 6 ,or 50,000 -10,000 miles. What do all think?
