Hi,

you may have read some of my other questions regarding ships...i have another!

Im preparing a report on emergency actions on board the ships bridge, as an officer. Im after information regarding main engine failure including, What alarm goes off, the possible dangers and what an officers actions should be in this scenario.

I understand there are certain publications i can get this information from but i have limited access at the moment so any help you could give would be great!

Thanks in advance!

I've just been reading about Noah's Ark ( http://www.answersingenesis.org/creation/v19/i2/animals.asp ) and the claim that it was about 140m long. So, I was wondering, with the exception of Noah's Ark, when did mankind achieve the technology to produce a 140m+ ship?

I'm wondering if the ice would damage my pontoons if I left my boat in the water of an 300 acre inland lake in Michigan. I suppose it would depend somewhat on how deep in the water the pontoons are. Just curious.

Today I went to the Liverpool/Birkenhead area for a Doctor Who exhibiton. When we were driving down the road we passed a shipwreck of a battleship standing next to a warehouse. Anyone have an idea of it's identity?

Hi, fellow "boaties" >
I hear that the IWA, BW, and "Wergies", WRG have a bit of a problem with upcoming funding, to ensure our present & expanding lovely systems flourish.
This is sad.
I pay all my fees / licences etc, which apparantly will not help much towards the costs of a pair of local new lock-gates.
What to do ?
Any good ideas ?
Bob the Boat.

While watching boats going through the locks with some friends, you see a large, heavily laden barge loaded with steel about to be lowered. One friend says, "Hey, see where the water line is in the lock? If that barge were to sink for some reason right now, would the water level rise or fall or stay the same?" You craftily respond, "What do you think?" As she struggles with the thinking, it gives you an opportunity to think it to think it through yourself. What do you come up with?

I was reading this magazine about yachts. Most mentions how much they cost etc but there is no mention of appreciation or depreciation it its value.

Does chartering a yacht actually ofset some of the investment or does it actually generate profit?
