I've got the Murphy books down pretty well, taken advanced firefighting, bridge management, celestial,... but I'm not sure about stepping onto a ship for the first time as a mate. Are they really just untrustworthy peons like an OS in unlicensed, or do they need to know exactly what they're doing? Does the Mate give them checklists of what needs to be done when and how to do it, or should they already know all that somehow? I'm trying to go up the hawspipe, but think school might have been a better idea now.

I am trying to find if it possible to secure transportation as a passenger on an ocean-going cargo ship. I have not been able to find anything on the internet, but not sure if I am using the correct wording. Surely there are freight vessels out there who sell a passenger berth for carraige?

If so, how do I find transportation on such vessels?

suddenly turned cold (below freezing) and i need to drain the water out fast. the service company states that the drain plug is at the bottom/back of the block, but i can,t locate it. i am not engine savvy, and unfortunately i can,t get a serviceco. to arrive for a week.

does anyone know of a site that may show me where the drain is located? thank you,
