How about a day with you either working on the car or fishing? That would be the best gift for you and him

Yah, the 1500 Hemi has alot of cool accessories...cool air intake, cat back exhaust, chip, ect. If he does not already have the cool air intake and your cool spending about $250 - you can get a K&N cold air intake made for his make and model - got mine through ebay. Get some other family member to go in with you to get the full amount. Easy to install. Good call on the truck accessory as he probably has all the fishing one man "should" need. Another item may be a reverse mirror cam to hookup the boat or whatever else he tows...

Electronics? Tools? Depends on the hobbies of the dad.
If he's into computers/electronics and such - get him something from best buy. Maybe a flashy new toy or game if he's into video games.
Generic gifts could be a leather jacket, a watch, or some cool little gadget. Base what your dad is into and go from there.

How about a good Swiss Army Knife. They range in price form $30USD to as much as you want to spend. I know I don't go anywhere without my Swiss Army Knife. If it can't go I don't go. It is the one thing I am taking to my grave with me. there is nothing more presonal to a man than his pocket knife.
If not a Swiss Army knife a good Buck Lock Back Knife. (No serrated blade) regular blade.
If he is an ex Marine and there is a Bass Pro Shop near you. Get him a classic Marine K Bar.
You might also think about a new Plano tackle box. You can get good ones at around fifty dollars at wal Mart. or any Sporting Good store. And it is against all laws of Physics to ever have enough tackle boxes..
Something that sort of falls in with tools but sort of doesn't. If he does not have one get him a good timing light. You can get them at Sears, or any automotive parts house.
Maybe a leatherman. I know you have seen them. they are sort of a combination pliers, knives, screwdrivers all rolled into one.
If he wears western clothes a good belt buckle and belt from a Western Store.
Something else you might think of is a good work coat. Wal Mart sells a good Wals work coat. I'd get it in black so it will not show grease.
How about a pair of bonculars.
I would say a good rod and reel but you are looking at over a hundred dollars there.
A good six cell Mag light or Beckman flash light maybe.
Clothes are dud's we get enough of them.

No tools.
No bait.
Hmmmmm....
How about a book about fishing? Wait. There is an interesting if slightly weird book on Cod. Hold on... Am checking.
There is a book called Trout Fishing in America. One of my youthful favourites. So much so that I named the only cat I ever "had" (if you can call a feline possessed) after the title of the book by Richard Brautigan.
So... you could go to the book shop and look at books on fishing, or on Trout Fishing in America. Trust me on this one.
Personally, I would get him Trout Fishing in America, by Richard Brautigan, and then I would pair that with a coffee table book on lures with colour photos.
Merry Birthday of Christ, or Kwaanza, or whate'er.
Peace out, Sister.

Well I would go with a hooker but that is just me lol... or a tackle box with tools in it. If none of that works then you can take him out cuz for under $50 it really is the thought that counts.

If he's a fly fisherman I'd get him a buttpack tackle box. I really like mine.
Books: A Fine And Pleasant Misery by Pat McManus. Even if he's not a reader he'll enjoy this.
