Listen, its important to take advise from those who actually own a boat and spend time boating in a variety of conditions. Currently, my wife and I own a wakeboard boat, however, usually find ourselfs looking at the Bowrider boats due to there ability to meet a variety of conditions. For example, able to take on higher swells (waves) and keep the ride smooth and fun. Also, the newer Bowrider boats have optional wakeboard towers to meet the highest watersports needs. Its important to feel safe and enjoy the ride, and not have to worry about wind swells ending your day on the boat. If your looking for new boats, check out Tahoe boats for the lower cost but nice options. Also, you may want to consider a Deck Boat, as they are a Bowrider modified to seat more and provide more deck options (tables, head, ect.). There are alot of boats to look at, and lots used. If you know what your dad likes, go with it, otherwise the Bowrider boats will provide a bit of everything, and all the fun. Good Luck - your dads a lucky guy to have you ! If I could choose the boat for me - most likely a Four Winns Bowrider model (the SS's are nice), or perhaps a Tahoe 228 to keep the price lower and get the deck boat.

It depends on what your dad will do with the boat. will he fish? does he just want a boat to putt around in? How much do you intend to spend? If it's a small fishing boat for small inland lakes you could go with a 12'-14' aluminum fishing boat. You can usually find them used with a motor and trailer for $1500.00-$3000.00. Remember, thats for a used boat. The same set up new could go as much as 8-12000.00

You only need to know two words "BOSTON WHALER" ! I have one, people say "How can you afford to put your family in that boat, I say "HOW CAN I AFFORD NOT TO" ??????
Double hulled closed cell floatiation, makes it unsinkable, look at the ad's, they park cranes on top of them and they don't break, they saw them in Half at boat shows and they still float, ask ANY sailor about "Boston Whaler's" reputation, the boat speaks for itself. www.whaler.com or www.whalercentral.com are definatley worth a look !

One that floats, has an engine, and has a cooler for beer. That is all you need.
