For airline commerical flights, there are like virtually all male pilots and hardly any female pilots...why?
I asked my dad and had a heated argument with him...he said that females are only good at servicing people so they can only be stewardess....he also said that women lack concentration, lack control and a sense of direction aka decision making during emergency situation and can't keep their cool...although I don't quite agree...I must say that perhaps my dad is right.
Can someone offer me their thought?
Do airlines employ female pilots or is there a rule which says that they only want male pilots?
For male pilots..what are their strengths over female pilots?

thank you

When I am on a Boeing 747 on a flight from L.A. to Taiwan or on a flight back, it feels like I am walking slightly uphill as I am walking down the aisle towards the front of the plane. And when I see a 747 flying, on a TV show or a movie, it does look like it is angled up slightly when in level flight. Why doesn't it fly completely level?

Many thanks.
C.L.

Hi, I want to know which airplane I should buy for doing flights to the caribbean and south america from south florida(miami)? I really want a Turbo Cirrus because they are fast and come with a parachute, which makes me feel more safe. But I also heard that flying a single over open water is a pretty bad idea, should I lose an engine i'm shark's food! lol. A twin whould be safer but then they don't come with a chute. My budget is less the 400k.

i am 16 years old living in Brisbane and wanting to become a pilot when older, i acquire all prerequisites needed for the course except the $15,000-$20,000 needed for flying during the 3 year course, so thats $45000-$60000 needed to get my commercial pilots license. is there any way of somehow getting this money, would the government pay some of it,bank loan or anything please any ideas on how i could get past this problem, and i don't want to go to the air force. thanks

It seems like parallel runways would be the best for safety and air traffic control.

I have to pick some people up from this airport on Tuesday at 1pm. We want to go up earlier and watch the planes. Because of the new restrictions at airports I was wondering if there is somewhere nearbye we can park up and observe the aircraft. We do have binoculars!!!!!

For non-stop long haul flights in Northern winter climates (i.e. 8 hours from Canada to Scotland), how do they keep the wings free of ice build up? Does de-icing really keep them ice free for the entire flight?

Is it more "dangerous" to fly in the dead of winter in these conditions?

(I will be flying in a commercial airliner jet, not sure exactly which plane type, but probably a 737 or 747).

I ask this, with the scenairo that we have to sink, "right away", say a container ship (with Chemicals, oil, fuel), taken over by terrorists and heading for one of our ports, would Guided munitions, iron bombs, be able to sink it "in time"? I have seen footage of just how much damage surface ships can absorb (both military and civilian) before they sink. The excocet etc. types of missles are effective, but would an air dropped torpedo, with modern guidence systems and enhanced warheads, be a more efficent (quicker) way to sink/stop such an attack (rapid response, flexibility etc.) vs. that from a ship/sub, which may be out of position?.Can any modern aircraft carry them? Comments?
