Don't need to join the military, many civilian government contractors fly UAV's as well, and make crazy good money.

Right now, the primary users are the military. So you can join any service, except the Navy which is still thinking about how they want to use UAVs.
AF: Need to be a rated pilot to "fly" the UAV. However, sensor operators are enlisted folks with intelligence, specifically imagery backgrounds
Army: Not sure if it has its own MOS, but Intelligence is also their primary user
USMC: As for Army

Be an expert video game player. If you can control the characters with a great degree of precision, you can control the UAV.

In the civilian world, you must be a certificated commercial pilot.

You have to be un-available to be the pilot of an"unmanned aerial vehicle"!!
