Ok so if im in a 747 or whatever and the plane undergoes explosive decompression, what would i see happen in the cabin? What would i experience? This is in regards to China airlines flight 611 which broke up in mid air. Just wondering what it was like for those passengers on that plane ... did everything just all of a sudden go to pieces? Please explain in detail.

Any suggestions as to an interesting single-engined, propellor-driven aircraft that might be fun to get a signoff on? I've thought of ducks and taildraggers...any others?

If a pilot is able to speak a few different languages, do they or are they allowed to make announcements to passengers in the different languages? And I am talking about when the majority of passengers speak those languages. I don't mean something like making announcements in French for a domestic flight within India.

What does "Runway breaking" mean? And what does it mean when an air traffic controller says "Runway breaking is good for all types" when communicating with a pilot (about to give clearance for the plane to land)?

And if so is it also true that there have been crashes due to the French refusing to speak English? Just that I've been told this quite genuinely but dispute it.

It's the simple things I wonder about more than the big complex things. But yeah why do planes fly so high? It's not like they're gonna hit any buildings even at 3000 feet. The tallest thing in the world is a radio antenna and its only 2000 feet high. So why do planes fly at like 10000 feet? Doesn't that just make the engines have to work harder because there's less air up there? And it can't be noise because I work at a place right next to an airport and even when planes come in to land you can rarely hear them.

I have the oppurtunity to take a ground school class but I know I will not be able to pursue anything past ground school for probably 10 yrs aka until I am out of school and have money. Is it worth taking ground school now? I'm worried that any tests I take may be deemed as out of date by the time I can pursue a pilots liscence. Thanks.

Millions of airplanes fly the friendly skies everyday.

Which airplanes do you feel safest on? Which airplanes do you feel least safest on? There should be a reason. Lengthy explanations welcomed and encouraged.

Thanks, Tim

Why are there really humongous safety problems with the new international airport in Bangkok, Thailand? I read the article and saw pictures of one of the runways all torn up, being repaired..pilots say this airport is terrible, safety-wise...who is at fault here, the Thai government, the airport's designers, or the builders?
