Five CONFIRMED kills of enemy aircraft.

Five confirmed (either by video of the crew ejecting, or "catastrophic destruction" ) enemy aircraft in air-to-air engagements.
Kills on the ground, while tracked in your records, don't count.
Also, it's not just pilots, WSO/RIOs also are credited with kills, and can become "aces".
In fact, the highest scoring AF "fighter pilot" in Vietnam, wasn't a pilot at all. Capt Chuck Bellevue a WSO had 6 kills.

5 confirmed kills ( in a dogfight ) the aircraft must be comparable to the one you are flying.

nobody gets to be an ace for shooting down 5 bombers.

dogfighting is a dead art and rarely if ever happens anymore.

if you mean A.C.E. (aerobatic competency evaluator) for airshow pilots go to faa.gov or iac.org and it will list the req's for that.
