Heyy! I use a get-paid-to site (link is in my profile) to earn a little extra cash.. Well, they require after you make $600 to send in a W-9 tax form.. Right now I am owed $200 but can't get it because I haven't turned one in, mainly because I don't really know what one is.

Can somebody explain a W-9 form to me in lamen terms and how this is going to affect me to turn one in.. Is this going to affect my taxes in some way? Like, will I have to pay taxes on the money I earn after I send in the form? Do I have to notify the person who does my taxes that I sent one in?

If I bought a new car, and paid $2000 for an extended warranty, and I'm using the actual cost for deduction, can I deduct the entire amount of that? I know the max for the car itself is around $3000 deduction for the 1st year, but I wanted to know if the warranty counts as something separate that I can deduct completely the first year.

Hello there!

I make 50K a year. My withholdings are set to S02 (2 dependents, myself basically. I'm single as well. On my most recent paystub, it says they've already withheld around 11K for the entire year so far. That's ridiculous as far as I can see it. My question is, how much money do you think I'll get back in April 08? Will I owe anything? I don't have any 1099's to report or anything like that. Thanks a lot!

I've recently split up with my soon to be ex-husband. He has a large income I have virtually none. (A small workers comp settlement payment which is non-taxable) He is self employed & claims about 1/10 of the income he actually makes. I don't want to sign anymore lies for him. I am also wondering if I can do an amended return & file married filing seperately. If the IRS ever audits him & his accounts I don't want to be responsible. Thanks
