I believe that means that if it's now 2007 and I lived in the property in 2002 and 2003, but kept it rented afer 2003 , that it fills the requirement. I could have captail gains waived if I sold in 2007.

I will have a relatively low Federal taxable income this year. If I convert, say $100,000 from my traditional IRA to my Roth IRA, will that "income" push me into the same bracket as if it were real income? Does my total income including the converted amount have to stay below the threshold for allowing a Roth conversion? Will this trigger AMT?

I am on a small retirement annuity of $900.00 a month. I think too much tax is being taken out of my check. I claim zero. $334.00 is withheld each month is Federal taxes and the same amount is withheld for state taxes which leaves me with about $232.00. Is this the right amount of taxes? Thank you for the help.

I recieved an Award claim notification letter containing a check for almost $5000.00. In the letter it tells me to call and speak to the claim agent. The agent I was told to call was out for the day but I did speak with a man, he barely spoke English and was hard to understand. In the letter it says I am to western union or Moneygram $4000.00 of first check to cover taxes so that rest of "winnings" can be released. The gentleman on the phone verified this and gave me a name and address. BEFORE I even consider doing this, has anyone ever heard of this before?? If you contact me (leave your e mail) I will send you a pic of letter and check. I have been burnt before by someone pretending to be a lottery company. My winnings are said to be 250,000.00.

I recently sold some stock and didn't want to buy new stock. So, I put all the money into a Money Market Prime Fund. Am I going to get taxed badly on this. Someone told me I have to reinvest it before the year is out and I'll be ok.

I recently got married and we are trying to figure out the best way to do our taxes. We were going to claim married and have my husband claim 1, and I would claim 0. We just don't want to have to pay in at the end of the year. So I am wondering if we should claim married, but withhold at the higher single rate and then both claim 0. Will that make a huge difference on how much they take out monthly?

I have know those who owe significant amounts of taxes for past years unfiled returns (tens of thousands of dollars). They have settlement conferences and settle for cents on the dollar and start over. Isn't their short payments coming out of the pockets of all the rest of us Americans who routinely pay all our taxes due??? What kind of justice is that - guess we should all stop paying taxes and just settle when the time is right?????
