We pay a school tax with our electric bill, it gets added to the total bill and then taxed again, is that legal? Isn't that double taxing?

In the UK we pay -

*income tax & ntional insurance (directly from our wages/salaries) graduated from 22% up depending on how much you earn.
*stamp duty on property
*council tax (graduated depending on where you live)
*excise tax/duty on foriegn products
*road tax (on vehicles - graduated on engine size)
*inheritence tax (on anything we inherit over about £250k)
*Road/bridge/tunnel tolls
*goods & service tax or VAT 17.5% (supposedly Value Added Tax) on anything brought in shops and any services (bills, etc) - businesses can claim this back
*TV Licence (anyone who owns a TV or radio)
*IRS (inland revenue service) - taxing our leftovers
*watercraft registration/boat tax
*vehicle license registration tax
*fuel permit tax
*fishing licence tax
*Gift tax
*building permit tax
*cigarette/alcohol tax - stamp duty (as well as VAT)
*corporate income tax (employer tax) approx. 40%

not to mention all the hidden taxes, such as court fines, traffic fines, and many more.....

I received $200k compensation on losing my job last week…the pay was outright and taxes took about 50%. Some details…I just brought a home last year…I am currently a full time student…unemployed otherwise…single…no dependants…how can I get most of that $100k back? Investing in real estate, a business, IRA, etc? I can be very flexible…anyway, thank you for any advice you can give me.

I had a minour job this summer and in the end they notified us for about 90 days including weekends all are miour employees where geting $1000
Not much! anyway
After they payed me cash and took out $500 and then said they where going to give me more because they made a mistake and taxes arent 50% (they really arent) but someone here told me you had to make $6000 a year to pay taxes, when i asked the directer of finance she said it's untrue everybody would go bankrupt (blah blah) and it is only $600 a year to not pay taxes, which is it. do i really have to pay taxes because they did not take any money out of anybody they gave them a flat check for $1000, but they said they do have to pay taxes, so do you or don't you. i don't want to lose around $200-250 from this stupidity because i only made $1000 to start with (that is if theyt dont diduct taxes)
Someone helllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllpppppppppppppp me i worked hard, do i have to surender $200 thanks!
