for the past 5 years my partner has not been self employed he has worked for a building company and in a wearhouse and pays tax though his wages every week so why does he keep having letters saying he owes cause of late returns the amount is now up to 11.000 pound he has been to court 2 years ago cause of this and they dropped the case because he wasn't self employed anymore and that they would contact inland reveue to tell them this and they said that he didn't owe anything.

It's a corporate pension. I will be living in the US. I'm sure there will be taxes to be paid, but I'm looking for the most tax-advantaged way to do it. Thanks!

I studied abroad in Spain for 6 months, I was told if I saved my receipts from groceries, supplies, etc. I could get the taxes I paid returned to me (up to a certain amount). I didn't have time at the airport to ask anybody because I didn't want to miss my flight. Is this something I shouldv'e done at the airport in Spain? Can I do it at the Spanish Embassy?

I'm hoping I could get some advice as i am pretty inexperienced with all this....

I've found something I can sell on e-bay which I will just list under a personal account - and perhaps open a shop if it sells well - I will be registered as self employed so that I pay all taxes due....

I will use a seperate personal account for all the transactions.

Is this all legal and ok?

Would I have to register a business name, get a business account or do anything else?

Also, since I'm not a business - will I still be exempt from business rates on council tax ?

Many thanks for any advice.

I currently get paid 25p per mile and we recieved this email yesterday. Is this legal and can it be challenged?

Gents,

With immediate effect, can we please make sure that every expense sheet submitted has fuel receipts attached from now on - the value of which MUST be greater than what you are claiming for (ie - if you are claiming mileage expense for £25 - the fuel receipts must be greater than £25). As also highlighted by BLANK, every site/area also needs to be listed on the sheets as well!

If your expenses do not have the above items (listed or attached) then I will be unable to pay them until they are completed correctly & are compliant regarding the "tax liability" perspective.

I e-mailed this person back asking what I had to do. Of course he said supply him with some personal information that would only be used for claiming the winnings. This isn't the first e-mail I've received. Please is this legit or not? God if it were I'd jump at it then again that's what this person is probably hoping.
