i am paid monthly but parts of monthly pay are calculated weekly i.e. overtime so which months of the year 2007-2008 will be classed as 5 week months, hence 5weeks overtime pay as opposed to usual 4weeks. i think july and october 2007 are two what are the others? please. :)

In UK, if you are Monthly paid, you annual salary is divided into 12 equal parts and you get one part (1/12th) per month (I have never come across a company that does it different)

Payroll will have a 'closing date' for each month - typically this is a fixed date. If you are paid on the last working day of the month, the Payroll 'closing date' will typically be the 15th (or last working day before the15th) of every month

Overtime is calculated at the end of each week - this is because the number of hours overtime you (or others) do may vary from week to week.

In any one month, you are paid all outstanding overtime that has been approved by your Manager BEFORE the Payroll 'closing date' that month ... any overtime that is approved after the closing date will be paid in next months wages ... this means that the last 2 weeks (or more) of overtime in a month is paid the following month.

SO .. lets take June Salary !

What o/t wil be paid in June ?

June closing (15th) is a Friday (end of week 24) .. even if your Manager approves your overtime before you finish on the Friday, PayRoll will have gone home by then.
So o/t wk24 will be paid in July wages.

May closing was Tuesday of wk 20. So o/t wk19 will be the last week paid in May wages.

Thus, June wages will include o/t for wk 20,21,22 & 23.

For July we know you will get o/t wk 24 - July closing will be Friday again (the 15th is a Sunday) - of wk 28 - ... so in July you get o/t wk 24,25,26 & 27.

When the month closing is on a Monday, it all depends on how fast you Manager authorises your overtime - some will do it the previous Friday, so (usually) no problem - others will wait to Monday and this MIGHT miss month closing ...

It varies from company to company. Ask your boss.

Some companies count how many Sundays are in a month, others count how many Saturdays, others try to get one long month in each quarter. It varies.
