My property tax is 1.1% and my house is valued at $620K. However I know my house value is lower these days, maybe $575K, so how do I get the city to readjust it so I don't pay excessive property tax?

During the summer I had a contract job that did not take taxes out of our paychecks. I asked a co-worker how much we'd have to file back and his reply was, "I'm just not gonna bother filing." I'm sure thats quite illegal and so I'm wondering just how much I'll have to pay back.

My total gross income was around 6300. I live in Colorado and I'm 18 years old. I've heard it's either 25% or 30% of each check, but I need to know for sure. Does anybody know what percentage is taken out of each paycheck or the gross? Or how I could find out?? Thanks.

My husband and I are closing on a home. Should we each change our tax status from Single 1 to Married with 3 allowances? We are not sure how to determine how many allowances we can have. We do not want to end up owing the IRS in April. Should we make an appointment with an accountant to alter our W-4s to be certain?

I read some of the IRS pub.54. It says that taxes can be deducted(?) if I prove to be a bona fide resident in a foreign country. I have been living in France for the past two years now. I also posess a residency card (as a student). All my activity is based here is what I'm saying. So I recently worked for a French company as a self-employed. In order for them to pay me I have to show proof that I pay taxes in US. They've given me a form to get filled out by me and the IRS. NOW-my question is can I be exempt from paying taxes in the US (once I prove that my "tax home" is France)? And how do I prove that I am a bona fide resident of France?

When fighting a childsupport case, the judge said that the exemptions for Traveling from our home to the first job of the day were not allowed, based on the fact that it was not a temporary job, (longer than a year). He has been doing the job for 18 years and has to travel 2 hours to get to some of his jobs. What does the judge think he can do to get to the jobs, take a transporter?
Any help would be appreciated. We have been fighting this for 2 years now, and any reference sites that you can offer to let us know the legal rights that might help up are greatly appreciated.

We live together, and I have claimed the child in the past. For 2007, it looks like my boyfriend would be better off claiming him, because I only worked part time while going to college full time. So he would get a bigger refund. How do we go about changing this, so he can claim him this year. We could really use the money, while I'm in school it's been really a rough year.

I worked in a war zone for 300 days. I lost my job at no fault of my own, was forced to come home and be unemployed. I couldn't claim unemployment insurance because the company I worked for was based out of a different state than I lived.
As a result, I had to live off of the money I saved for taxes.
What will the IRS do? It was 1099. How much taxes will be owed on 70k? And I did form a business for write offs, but never had a chance to open another bank account with the EID? What can I do?

Thank you.

330 day rule. If someone is out of country only 300 days, do they have to pay taxes only on the income they made while being back the 60 days, or do they have to pay income tax of everything they made?

Second question. The rule states any 12 month period out of country, can a month that was claimed the in the previous tax year also be claimed for another tax year. i.e Dec-Dec. Thanks.

I have recently been working aprx 30 hrs per wk under a 1099. I currently have no other income but my wife does work under W2. I'm looking for a clear explination of what 1099 means come TAX time. What percentage should I be setting aside to pay for the taxes? I've reviewed the IRS site but not able to make clear sense of it all. Any links or reponses greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
