I'm sixteen, and I plan to wrap gifts and bake and sell pies and breads to earn a little money for some mission trips I want to go on. I plan to make brochures and business cards (for the services mentioned above) and give them to friends. Will I need to file any kind of taxes?

If I add my mom's name to any of the brochures and/or cards, will she have to file taxes?

note: checks will be addressed to me.
also note: we live in a state with no income tax.

I just recently started a new job in Oklahoma.

On my first pay check:
2.4% was taken out for Federal Tax.
7.7% was taken out for Social Security.
1.5% was taken out for State Tax.
Totaling 11.6% taken out of my pay check.

On my second pay check:
5.6% was taken out for Federal Tax.
7.7% was taken out for Social Security.
3.0% was taken out for State Tax.
Totaling 16.3% taken out of my pay check.

I did however earn $254.30 more on my second pay check than on my first due to some overtime.

But would this really make such a difference to take out 5% more out of my pay check?

My fiance and I live together with our 3 children-one his, one mine and one ours. His brother also lives with us. I am the sole supporter of the family, except my fiance worked about a month, cut his finger off and recieved some workman's compensation. We are fighting for the rest of his settlement, but this shouldn't be resolved until sometime next year.

Anyway, he owes back child support on the child that lives with us, and has lived with us, for 3 1/2 years (we are fighting this too because it is bogus), but if I claim him and the kids can the government take my tax return because he owes past child support? I have heard that they can if we are married, but don't even know much about that. By the way, I haven't received a dime of support from her from the mother in all of those years.

Also, can I claim his brother since I support him as well (he is 24)?

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

I contributed more to my company's dependant care reimbursement program than I spent. Since I am losing money can this be counted as a loss on my tax return?

In 2007 I made about 15,000 from work got a settlement which 34,000 went to medical bills, 24,000 went to me for damages, and 20,000 Went to my lawyers fees. I had no insurance when the bills got paid and all medical bills were paid by my lawyers. How much of my medical bills and/ or lawyers fees will come back in my tax return?

from august through the end of this year I am working a job making 9 an hour working full time making over 1,000 a month. I just turned 18 in nov. From jan to june I was making 7 an hour pulling maybe 450-500 a month. At my current job I have already lost over 1,000 to taxes in just 3 months. My overall yearly income should be about about 7000-8000 minimum. I plan on going on a road trip next summer so all of my tax return will be going towards it along with other money I will have saved up. Can anyone give my a good guesstimate on what my tax return will look like. I dont have any claims for my taxes (ie kids, wife, an so on)

I work at an accounting firm and we have had 3 different clients with CDs at Capital One and Capital One is with-holding taxes from the interest but then not paying the IRS. So the IRS comes after our clients for the taxes.

I am selling my house to my Mom. I am selling it to her well below market value. The selling price is 50,000 but the banker would like to make the selling price 74000, and show it as me gifting her 24000 for a down payment. My question is am i then going to be stuck paying the captial gains tax on that extra money? Or well the fact that it is a gift make it not taxable as capital gains.

Thanks

I DO provide more than 50% of income and have for several months. It's a very confusing situation but he does live with us and I do provide more than 50% of his income. Sometimes we get 50 dollars as 'child support' but thats not much help with a 16 year old.
