Does anyone happen to know if I need to pay quarterly estimated taxes on short term gains (from sale of stock options) or do I have the option to do it all at once when I file my 2007 taxes in April? Are there penalties if I wait?

I bought my home last year in late december, so far i have paid about 10,000 in interest, what i am wondering how much of that will i get back. I also went to h&r and they guy who did my taxes barely new how to type let alone do my taxes, he didnt use any of my down payment or any of the fees that i paid at closing. can i put closing fees and down payments on taxes? i was scared to do my own taxes because i thought since i bought a house it would be a more complicated story. oh crap i just realized i owed 30 dollars in taxes to california and i forgot to send them what can i do now. i moved from ca to wa last year. any help is great thank you.

I'm figuring out my timesheet for the month. I have 9.5 hours of over time that I can claim as time and a half (1.5 OT). I was just curious if The Man taxes more on 1.5 ovetime? If so, would it be better to claim over time as regular, 1.0 OT? Or is it all taxed the same? Thanks!

Ok, i'm a merchandiser and i've been doing contractor work for a few weeks. I travel so many miles and I know i can deduct my meals up to certain amount each day and my gas too. and things such as car maintenance, hotel, laundry and basic things.
Ive never done this. They said i do it at the end of the year. i know it's hard to overlook the takes since they give you a full check. Is there a way to pay your taxes every month? or when i file my taxes online, how do i know how much to deduct and such? ive been saving my meal receipts and gas and such.
Please direct me to the right info or culture me about it =)

City Utility Users Surcharge 4.00
Federal Universal Service Charge 1.82
TOTAL CREDITS, ADJUSTMENTS & OTHER CHARGES $7.07

thats on top of the regular taxes..

She says she went to legal aid and they said that we have to file jointly, but now that we're separated, I'd rather file separately. It all seems like a ploy to get my tax refund, when I'm the one who did all the work that brought in that income.

Help!

I live in Oregon.

"We have attempted to restore equity and fairness to the system," Rangel said.
I never seem a poor person start abusiness and hire
employees. Sould like they are trying to get more votes from the poor and middle class.

I got a new job over the summer and he said they don't take taxes out, so at the end of the year I'll have to file and declare for my taxes. I'm really confused as to what I'm supposed to do.
Do I choose how much I tell the government I've earned? Or what exactly will I have to do when tax time comes?

Someone told me that due to a very significant tax collection for the 06 year the US treasury department and the IRS have been instructed to refund 70% of the tax surplus to taxpayers before the next spring season. the average refund will be between $3000-6500 for married and $1500-3250 for single persons.

someone told me Bush said this during a radio address.
is this true?

I thought one of the benefits of being deployed to Iraq was that your income wasn't taxed. But I've been looking at my husband's pay slips and while the state isn't taxing him... the federal government is taxing him. Is this right?
