Why not cut spending by doing away with program we do not need, why have Federal departments for item that the state level should handle.Cut spending means less taxes.
Better yet, have a Federal Sales tax and do away with income tax and everyone will pay their share, even drug dealers.

The difficulty in cutting federal income taxes for "the poor" and middle class is that for the most part they already aren't paying tax, depending of course on your definition of "middle class". Of federal income taxes collected, the lower 50% of wage earners pay less than 4% of the total income tax collected. Even cutting that to zero isn't going to save them much. "The poor" often get an Earned Income Credit that actually gives them money back rather than paying in.

A lot of proposals, tax and otherwise, seem more for the purpose of buying votes than anything else.

Take from the rich and give to the poor sounds real good until you learn that by their definition you are "rich" and you will be paying more tax. I find it hard to say but I agree with Rep. Rangel that the tax system needs an overhaul. But we need to be careful that we are not sending the wolf to repair the chicken house.

The current administration gave away the farm to the wealthy and we are now in the biggest financial hole in the history of the counrty -- greater than the combined deficits of every administration before COMBINED!

It would have been one thing if big business had used the windfall to create new jobs and more income for workers, but spendable income has steadily DROPPED since Bush took office. So now we need to rebalance the scales and get back on track.
