I work for Papa John's as a delivery boy. I work 4 to 7 days a week for 4 to 6 hours every time im working. I drive between 50 to 100 miles each time sometimes more then 100 miles. I use over 12 dollars in gas a day depending on how many miles i drive. I was wondering what all i can deduct from my taxes? If anyone can help i'll be very grateful.

I filed my return on a MFJ basis & realized i am getting a good refund. But, just yesterday when i checked with IRS they said the return is rejected and said they dont know what the reason is (I filed my return on Mar 21st 07 and its already May 17th). They said the reason for rejecting would be sent in a letter by IRS. Can anyone please tell me how much time will it take for the letter to arrive and what should i do after that. What are the common reasons for a "married filing jointly" return to get rejected?

I am an individual and do not own a company - can I or should I issue a 1099 to a contractor or handyman who does work on my home? If so, what would be the advantage? If not required, how will the IRS respond to the 1099 if I submitted one?

I used my debit card in a restaurant. They explained they only had ATM, wrung up at the register in $20.00 increments and there was a $1.00 fee. I agreed. Later I noticed on the receipt that they charged sales tax on the fee too. (My bank also charged me a fee of a few dollars.) I realize it's only 8 cents but it just seems wrong. We've never gone back.

Hi,

Been reading a lot of the "reclaiming bank charge" answers. But jus wondering if its possible for myself to reclaim changes over the last 6 years even though Barclays bank have closed down my account due to it being in Overdraft of nearly £1500 Unauthorised.??? And I also owe them about £2000 on a Barclays credit card, which has also gone to finance company for a monthly installment plan!!

Would it still be worth trying to claim back the charges from my unauthorised overdraft, which in the first place wsa caused by failed direct debits and bounced cheques considering the account is now closed?

SS disability took 3 years to approve my claim. Then they sent a lump sum that with the remaining monthly payments will exceed anything I ever made in 1 yr. How do I avoid paying excessive income taxes on money that's already been taxed at least twice over? Can I income average this over the 3 yrs it took SS to finally pay me? Some of this has to repay loans I had to make to live while SS was stalling.

I bought a few incentive options from my company in 2005. Every time I asked my accountant about AMT, the answer was that because I purchased them at their fair market value at the time, I did not have to pay AMT. Now, the options are likely worth more, though the company is still private. I still don't have to pay AMT, right? I tried to read on the IRS web site, it is confusing.

The amount of federal taxes taken out from every paycheck isjust outrageous. Is there anything I can possible do to lower that amount? Claim more exemptions and then write off expenses at year end? Donate more to charity? etc.

I am an LLC, and filed taxes as a corporation this year. However, I did not file form 8832 (because I didnt know I had to until now)--so now the IRS is saying to show proof of the form in order to be able to file my taxes (which I do not have) otherwise I cannot file as a corporation. My dilemma is, since business taxes have been due for the last 2 months, what do I do now? Do I send a late schedule C? I filed as no income for the year (since it was my first year). Can I file form 8832 for next year so I can start filing as a corporation? I need to know what to do. Thanks!!

I moved out of my parents house in September 2006, and it is now May 2007, so it will be a full year of being on my own in September. They claimed me for last years tax season (because i lived there most of the year), but I think I need to change my W2 so I can claim myself. I work full time, and I'm not going to school. I'm 19, and make about 22,000 annually. How should I file my taxes? And will I probably owe next year? THANK YOU soo much!!

Or nickels, dimes, etc.?

I have a five figure tax bill coming up and I'd love nothing more than to dump a truckload of pennies in the IRS lobby.
