I have a court child support paper that states "A dependency exemption shall be assigned to XXXX pursuant to the Idaho Child Support Guidelines. The child support obligation as stated above has been adjusted to provide for the pro rata payment of teh value of the exemption" What exactly does that mean? Do I get to claim my child on my taxes or does XXX get to claim him? If XXX gets to claim him even though XXX has only seen him one time in my child's life is there a way to change that so I get to claim my child on my taxes? Please help me understand. Thank you

I need help with these questions.
Evaluate the impact that the fair tax might have on a business:
1) what might happen, in general to the firm's demand?
2)what impact would an inelastic vs. elastic demand curve have on this tax?
3)what would happen to the firm's cost structure?
4)how would firms' that are heavily dependent upon foreign sales be affected?

Then how is it that we pay taxes on our incomes, purchases and things we own? Property owners pay taxes on the property they had bought. Then every quarter and every year they are required to pay school and property tax on the property that they own and then have to pay tax again on the sale of the property if they do not purchase new property with that money.

Why is it that only 61-65 million americans pay income taxes each year? Since that is the case, why is it that an entire town in ohio did not pay their taxes and nothing can or was done to those people. BTW, for those of you that quoted irs codes that is not law. it is a guid line. I want to know where is the law that shows that it is legal to tax a persons income, not their gains, or their dividends. If you could show the law and prove that it is the real law approved and rattified by congress, then you are the first person in this country. Read all of the laws associated with this, not just the ones you are told. Also, if that is the real law then prove it and Ed Brown has agreed to pay 1 million dollars to the person who can prove there is a real law that is in the constitution that says we must pay tax on out personal income. So smart people I tried to get my piece of that million bucks and failed. You try.

My refund was approved yesterday and apparently it takes 10 days just to move the money into my account. I turned my taxes in about two weeks prior to deadline (first time ever so don't hate me).

My In-Laws are in the midst of having their home forclosed on them next week (have another question pertaining to that).

They have made plans to talk to a lawyer about filing a Chapter 13 to try and save their home. Our questions are:

1) In-Laws live on husbands retirement and SSI (there is a total of 4 in the home, two are minors)...is thisan acceptable form of income?

2) In-Laws haven't filed income taxes for the past 5 years, thinking that they didn't have to because it is SSI and Retirement (don't ask me....I think it's a mess). Will this be a problem, which I think it will be?

3) In-Laws have no "toys": i.e. ATV, RV, summer home, motorcycles. Have one old clunker of a car and as far as we know...no credit cards. The only thing is...they have 3 horses that besides the up keep (which is ridiculous) they also pay to board them. I think that this will be a problem. Am I right? They may not even disclose the horses to the lawyer. Will the courts figure this out?
