I was getting over payed but i phoned and complained before they sent any money and was told it was not a mistake.
when they realised and asked for the money back i wrote a letter telling them i had spent the money, i told them i phoned and the date i phoned as all calls are recorded.
After they checked i was told i didn't need to pay as it was there mistake and i got to keep the money they over payed.

operating classification human beings do no longer pay 30%. it extremely is a lie. 50% of "taxpayers" pay no longer something after their refund. Warren Buffet isn't the basically one paying 15% on Dividend income. maximum retirees are, as well. thanks to cherry %.. have you ever seen the end results of better capital beneficial properties tax expenditures? a lot less sales for the authorities, so Liberals lose on that argument because you're those who want the authorities to grant each and every thing. Do you imagine we may be able to snatch all the income from the finished a million% and pay for Obama's Trillion dollar plans? the numbers do not upload up. Buffet is the wealthiest guy in American and he has 5, per chance 6 Billion. Do the mathematics. those who make over 150K pay in simple terms about 0.5 now, so how a lot more advantageous do you want? Socialism is already right here. You win. Nail the operating classification because 150K after taxes isn't wealthy! they are mendacity to you because they be conscious of human beings that pay those expenditures are the shrinking minority and also you would possibly want to under no circumstances sympathize with the quantity of work they put in. you're screwing yourselves in case you imagine you would possibly want to need to get ahead. that is a fantasy. upload in resources and state income taxes. Then inspect your electric powered bill. that's 0.5, too! what's in it for YOU?

Unfortunatley you do have to pay it back - the Governments view is that the onus is on you to notify them of anything that changes in your circumstances as soon as it happens - if not then they'll only reassess you at the end of the tax year and make you repay the overpayment.

But lets face it if you weren't entitled to the money and your circumstances changed - why should they subsidise your spending money if you didnt tell them of a change in your employment?

You are wrong.

The money belongs to me (and other tax payers) I want it back.

If you gave me £800 by mistake would you want it back?

I could understand you not noticing a mistake of £8 but this is £800, you must have known

Now pay it back and we tax payers don't want installments we want it NOW

Sorry, but you will have to pay it all back. You can do this by installments, but it is means tested if you feel you cannot afford any installment suggested by them. Thank Gordon Brown for this & don't ever vote Labour.
