I mapped it and created a Help file to help me find the information to do do my taxes. I don't believe YAnswers will let me place my own website link here - I am really interested whether anyone has done the same thing.

Hi...... Simple question....... I worked about 6 months (contract job) in 2005 and made roughly 40-45k and did not pay taxes on this..... This particular company without doubt reported this....... should I mention this when filing at H&R this year or just leave it alone? I was told that tax debt can increase up to 500% over a few years..... any advice would be appreciated.

Ok, So I have a unique situation. I am a student at UT Austin I am full time and have been for 2 years. I live with my girlfriend who I have lived with here also for the 2 years and we recieve no money from either of our parents. I know last year I was not sure so I let my parents claim me as a dependent on them, but this year I am not sure. So I live away, make my own money, and recieve no money from them. Now I know there are "test" I have to past and I am sure I don't pass them all. Do I have to past them all? What happens if I let them claim me again. I would still file My own 1040ez but what would happen to them? Cause I know they could make more from me being claimed under them.
Thanks

I have a neighbor that works in a thrift store as a cashier for minimum wage. If her sales for the day top $350, she is given a 10% cash bonus of the overage, but when she receives her paycheck, they're on her paycheck under tips and taxed Is this legal for a retail establishment or is it tax fraud?

CPS took my grandchildren from my daughter, now I have legal custody. When I took the kids into my home, CPS asked if I needed any changes made to my house because of the kids. I thought it was temorary so I said no. That was almost 5 years ago. One child is a boy, one is a girl, my home is two bedroom. I needed to seperate the kid bedroom. I am now out of a lot of money and wondering if there is some way of deducting these expenses on my taxes.

I've filed my taxes thru software last year, but I was wondering if I should file thru some firm this year... please comment after reading my situation. I've graduated from university this year, bought a new car, and have gotten sick (2nd degree infection, ER visits, in another words, HUGE medical bills--how big? More than what I make this year). Given my situation, should I file thru software? or is it better to file thru something like the H&R block? Do the softwares give me forms to fill out for cars and my medical bills? Any advise will be greatly appreciated!!

my son is helping me to pay the house mortgage which in under my name, can he deduct these payments when he files his tax?

I bought a house last year and thought it might be a good idea to have a 'professional' figure my property tax and mortgage tax deductions.

After I complied ALL the information for them, it took a matter of 7 min for them to put my numbers into their system. After it was all calculated, they told me to pay them $285!!!!!??? I about passed out. I told the agent that I NEVER would have used their services had I known it was going to cost that much! She just rolled her eyes and said it was a complex form because I itemized. I was then given two options.

1) pay now
2) have it taken out of my refund for a small $29.95 fee.

I feel I was totally ripped off: Get me in there, do a super quick data entry procedure, charge me an insane amount of money...for that kind of cash I'd at least like to get SOME kind of tax advice or a budget plan or a detailed walk through of what was being done. Nothing, just my taxes filed and sent out the door.

Am I being unreasonable?
