Tax rates haven't gone up because of the war, in fact they've gone down a little each year. Your tax guy obviously hates GWB and is just taking this opportunity to lie to people.

Did your actual TAX go up that much, or did you just have less taken out, so you got a smaller refund. Look at this year's and last year's return side by side. If your taxes went up that much and your income, dependents and deductions didn't change much, compare the numbers to see where the difference is. If nothing changed much in your income, dependents, deductions or withholding, it's possible this idiot made a mistake too and left off a credit or something.

Tax rate and government expenditures have NEVER been related. If they were, welfare accounts for more government expenditures that the military has ever spent.
