ok everyone is telling me they get 1000 or more for there kid. my boyfreind said he only got 500 for my daughter. Is that possible or is he lying to me. how much do you usually get for your kid?

he makes 20 thousand or a little more a year. and he lives with us.

It depends on his tax situation, whether it is his child, as well as if the child actually lived with him. The Child Tax Credit, Additional Child Tax Credit, and Earned Income Credit are the major factors. All are income dependent and tax liability is a factor. For example if he only made 1000 for the whole year then his refund might actually only be 500. However if he made around 10,000 it could be 2,000 or more. Without specifics I can't tell you for certain.

He's lying to you.

If he (illegally) claimed her, he got a lot more than $500.

He would get a $1,000 credit toward taxes owed, plus an Earned Income Credit of about $1900.

If your daughter isn't your boyfriend's biological child, then he's not allowed to claim her. If he did, and gets caught on it, he'll have to pay back taxes, interest, and penalties.
