When calculating income levels for medical, or other government healthcare support a pregnant woman is counted as 2 people.

Does this rule apply in general when preparing income taxes?
Is a pregnant woman considered as 2 individuals (e.g. +1 more dependent)?

Thank you

I had $300 and some odd dollars owed on my taxes last year and hadn't paid them. I know there will be a penalty but how can I find out what I currently owe when the IRS hasn't sent anything regarding this.

I got married in July. I'm putting down married joint with 0 allowances for my 2007 w-4. The IRS advises that in our financial position we should withhold an additional amount in our paychecks. I'm not so excited about giving the government a free loan that won't be paid back for 16 months. Any thoughts on this?

I’m not a smoker or anything, but I feel that they reasons they give for raising taxes on cigarettes would work on beer.

Examples:
It would stop kids from developing bad habits.
It would create extra funds for schools.
It would better for current users’ health

I also wonder they there aren’t big TV commercials like “The Truth” (that bash smoking) for beer. I never hear about anybody (like M.A.D.D.) trying to make a movement like this.

Here's the problem, he used to be in the army and has an army type credit card that he never paid off, it has like a 3000 dollar balance on it, so for them to collect, he has allowed them to take his tax returns every year. Now, does this mean, since we are married, that they will take mine as well? Is there a way I can file separately from him or make sure they don't take mine?

I work part time for him and he pays me most of the time by check. I keeps about 1/3 of his payment from the jobs for tax purposes. I work full time, but this is the first time with a part time job on the side. If I include it, will this be considered double taxation? I don't want to be audited, as I am sure that the occassional large deposits in my account (average around $400 - $500) would raise a red flag with the auditor, and most likely drag my boss into it. I'm really trying to cover my hind end on this. Any information is appreciated. I would say the total amount is about $2000 - $3000 for the year. Thanks.
