I personally think we pay too much tax but compared to other countries like America/Canada they have alot of taxes, for example they pay the usual income tax but then they have to pay State tax, then the Provincial tax, then sales tax & then GST.It was very confusing as the price on the ticket does not include all those taxes, lucilly i had a friend with me to explain it,so i think we pay about a little bit too much.Spend sometime over there.

Lets see:

Got my W-2 right here it reads

27,000 in Gross Earnings

Taxes Fed and State: 3000/900
Medicare: 400
SS Benifts: 1,700
Total:6000

For a take home this year of: 21,000

That number is more around 18,000 flat due to Health Care Withdrawls and such.

So almost 6,000 in Taxes yes I say that is a bit excessive.

And for what? I will never See Medicare or Social Security? My life has not improved and when I finish up college that is a new tax braket with more excessive taxes.

How would one figure: the more taxes you pay the more money you bring home?

if you are saying you are willing to work 90 hours a week to make ends met then well ok. You will get taxxed more. A refund at the end of the year is actually bad news. ya know

Yes, of course, I do. At the same time I know that most of the people whining on here about excessive taxes will go out and vote for liberal politicians who are itching to increase the tax load. When the American people really decide to inform themselves and vote for the right people in public office, then we may see an adjustment in our tax rates. By the way, these "right" people are found in both major political parties.

I have never cared to much about how much in taxes that I was paying, the more taxes I paid the more money I was taking home. In answer to your question no I do not believe that I have paid too much in taxes.

YES!

I realize that we need some government in order to survive, but it has gotten way out of hand. Politicians live like kings, and they use my money to buy votes with handouts.

Government does not do charity well. They pile their offices with cushy, high-paying jobs for friends and relatives instead of spending the money where it is really needed. Put charity back in the hands of the public. Private charities don't let people sponge off of them for decades. If people aren't trying to make their life better, why should we?

EDIT - Getting a refund just means you overpaid during the year. It doesn't mean that your taxes are low!

Yes. Sometimes I get so mad at the amount they take out. I don't see where the money is gong towards since the government hasn't been doing any improvements.

yes I do, if they would begin using the fair tax then there would not be IRS anymore. You would pay it only once. Such as land tax, car tax, etc.
