I'm not talking about with the use of financial institutions or the purchase of real property. What I'm asking is along the lines of something like using the cash to buy mowers and opening a small lawn service. Something of that nature.

I just turned 18 recently, and I have been looking to change banks. At the moment I use my parents credit union, but its not for me. I need a bank that will offer me a checking/savings account with good interest rates (considering the current market) and one which offers online banking and direct deposit. I didn't know where else to turn, which is sad.

I'm looking for a tool/spreadsheet that will give me the following information. Inputs: Total loan, # of years/months financed, finance rate. Output: each total monthly payment, $ paid each payment in interest, $ paid each payment in principle. I'd also like to change the variables and recalculate (i.e if I increased my monthly payment by x amount, how many months would it take down to pay the loan or if I financed at x rate, how much would my monthly payments be). I know there are a few sites that do have mortgage and loan estimates with the variables I mentioned, but I'd like something customizable where I can easily see every single payment. thanks.

I have a friend whos mother passed away, and left him a "Total Control Account". He doesn't have a bank account of his own, and he wants to write me a check for the amount in his account ($11,000+), and have me cash the check and give him the money.

My question is: Will the money be considered income of any kind, and will it be taxed? I don't mine cashing the check, but I don't wan't it to be considered income or taxable in any way.

Oh btw, I live in Maryland.

Thanks
Chas

I have a savings account with my credit union that offers a .050% rate. They offer a money market account beginning at 2.50%, compounded daily.

If your money is as accessible through a money market account, and you can deposit or withdraw money at any time from that account (my CU allows this, as long as I maintain a minimum balance), is there any reason to keep money within my savings account? It seems I would earn more interest by transferring my cash into a money market account.

My question is how do people have many investment properties say 7-10 $100,000 properties? When you try to get financing for more properties wouldnt you you be so far in debt? I know that you rent out the properties but you cant make that much profit after the mortgage payment. For example if you have 7, 100,000$ properties renting for 1500 a month with a mortgage of 1000 for each your only netting 3500 a month and in $700000 worth of debt so how can you keep getting loans for more properties?

I left my job in March so no longer make contributions. My husband will be 50 in Jan. and can retire from his state job. He can increase his pension by "buying back" 2 years of his military service time to go towards his service to the state. I need to know if there will be enough left out of my 401k to buy this service credit.

I've got qualifications, and am a good reliable and enthusiastic worker but have a dead-end customer services job. Whatever I try to make extra money seems to fail and I have just been hit with a few large bills that have knocked me back just when I thought I was getting by. I don't want to be a millionaire, just do OK. Is it my mindset that is letting me down? Other areas of my life are fine - I have a nice wife and kids, but just want a bit more security.
I live in Spain and work in Gibraltar. I am English.

I took out a line of credit with my small business. Unfortunately the business put me in a lot of debt and is now over. I am unemployed and cannot pay on my line of credit right now. Should I file for bankruptcy? And if so is this debt dischargeable?
