With something that large, you will probably need to open a bank account and deposit. I;m not sure that you could just 'cash' something like that. One option would be taking to the bank that it is issued through, but I don't know that check is large.

It would be nearly impossible to cash that check anywhere. The financial institution that cashes it for you would be required to fill out a currency transaction for for the IRS to keep track of money laundering. You should open an account with the check.
