I've got qualifications, and am a good reliable and enthusiastic worker but have a dead-end customer services job. Whatever I try to make extra money seems to fail and I have just been hit with a few large bills that have knocked me back just when I thought I was getting by. I don't want to be a millionaire, just do OK. Is it my mindset that is letting me down? Other areas of my life are fine - I have a nice wife and kids, but just want a bit more security.
I live in Spain and work in Gibraltar. I am English.

When you find yourself in a "rut" like many people do, ther are several things you can do to improve your situation. They may seem like common sense, but they work.

(1) Reduce spending. Get your kids cheaper stuff. Buy less of the small stuff that adds up.

(2) Increase your income. Get a side gig that could add a few bucks in your wallet. Or, ask for a raise. If you feel your job is dead-end, get another one!

(3) Save money! Well, of course, but, if you just really put your mind to it (and you must really try), you can save.

I believe it is 'attitude' that will make the difference. You Begin your question with a number of expectations that indicate you have a negative take on your circumstances. Yes, this will determine your success or not. If you believe the work you do is in a 'dead end' [sic] then that is exactly what it is or will become. If you believed instead that your work was a stepping stone to something better then you will find that other positive things will flow from it. Don't be mad at yourself - we all suffer from our upbringing in that formal education sets us up to 'fail' in the real world by carrying the same values that matter in an educational setting into real life. Adjust to what the real world is asking for and supply it. Good luck!

buy cheap (food,n all that sort of stuff) pay your bills before they come and within a few weeks you will have a few extra quid,, or there is this way,, when you get paid try to keep it not spend it until you really need too do this repeatedly for a whole month and you should get a weeks wages to spend on your family, it might sound daft but they both really work..
