My b/f and i have been offered jobs in the Canary Islands, we both have debts that we are struggling to pay off before we go. Is it true that if you move outside the EU the companies write off your debts? and if this is true what happens if you ever move back to the UK?

Me and my boyfriend are trying to save money so we can get our own place and buy thing like fridge, washing machine ..ect..
We were living together already but with my mum..and now we're going to live with his mum..anyways that is not the point.
The thing is he told me to hide the money away from him because if he see's it ..he'll spend it..i dont want to put it in my account because i'll also spend it if its in there.
I had money hidden away from him for a while until he found it..he was honest and told me..and he counted it..but didnt take any of it..but now i need a new place to hide the money..i dont know where..any ideas?

I'm deep in credit card debt. If I take a loan against the 401K I loose 20%. Is this better than filing bankruptcy??

And no, stripping is not an option. I am looking for grant writers, who will take their fees on the back end of the deal. I have been trying to pay off my debts and start a home business, but with no help, and no money. That is a huge handicap. So, if you are a grant writer or know someone that will take their fee out of the grant, I want to know.

I have $9K in credit card debt. I recently quit a position and saved $12K during my 4 years there. I can either keep my money where it is, and if I ever return there or any other Texas state job, my savings and years of service would pick up where it left off. In fact, after 5 years, my money would double. And, since I already have 4 years, in one more year, I would have $24K. My other option is to cash out. There is no guarantee I will ever go back there or any other state job. Plus, I really want to get rid of this debt. If I do cash out, I would have to start at ground zero with savings and years of service. I don't want to be hasty and cash out, since this is my only savings. But, it doesn't make sense to leave the money there, if I have this looming credit card debt. What do you think I should do?

A friend of mine asked me an interesting question after a crazy experience... I guess 2 separate wires ended up in his bank account , one for hundreds of thousands and the other for 50 or so. After calling his bank to notify them several times, the first larger wire was reversed and the funds removed... He kept calling about the second, however no action was immediately taken by the bank. He called again. Make a long story short, several weeks then a month goes by. All of a sudden, he hits some hard times financially, and the money (which was comingled in his normal checking account) is now being dipped into... He doesnt make a tremendous amount of salary, and is about 14k into this "mistaken" money... He is wondering what to do at this point. i recommended just getting a loan or Credit Card to cover what he dipped into and calling the bank.

Was curious if anyone knew legally, or what not, what could happen to him at this point... Is that money ever his if the bank refused to act?
