in payments for the last 3 years. Only 1724.00 of it has went to principal. The interest rate started at 7.00% and 3 months ago increased to 9.75%. The bank sent me a loan transaction history but I cannot tell what it means with all the code numbers. My question is does it seem like I am being ripped off or doesonly 1724 of 5760 goinf to principal seem right?thanks

What is the best plan in terms of pre-tax savings, interest rate, bonus, return value?

Hello
I am debating whether it is more feasible to use IRA or ING Direct. I know with IRA they get tax benefits, is ING taxable?
Also in addition if i open ING savings, can i change my recurring amount to be deposited every now and then?

I have read and heard *alot* about the possibility of *higher* , not lower, taxes at retirement, making me think hard as to whether I should keep maxing my 401k or not. I wonder about this new idea that everyone should put the minimum 401k to get the max employer match, max out a RothIRA, then put all the rest in aftertax low cost investments (ie, Vanguard total market funds, etc). How likely is it that most people will pay *more* taxes after retirement than they are now (while working)
I bring in about $100-120k a year, age 43, and have been maxing out my 401k for a number of years, and just last year made the decision to also fund 2xRothIRA's fully each year as well (one for myself and one for my wife). Should I keep maxing my 401k or use this alternate plan so many books are pushing aound ?
Tnx! Confused!

Check my math/info with a 4.5% APY.

If i deposit $5000, at the end of the month I will have $5225? I multiplied $5000 by .045 to get the interest then added the $5000 back to get $5225 total.

and at the end of the second month (without adding any additional money) I will have $5460? I multiplied $5225 by .045 to get the interest, because I get the interest on all of it not just the original $5000 right? then added the $5225 back to get $5460 total.
