I'm going to make an appointment with the bank tomorrow anyway but wondered if anyone else had experience with this. Split with my ex 4 years ago and before split we took out a joint loan because of the enormous debt his drinking left us (me) in. Recently his payments have been late going into the joint account but always made it on time for the loan coming off. Today it didn't and I had to put £130 extra from my account to cover it. If he continues being late with payments what will happen? I can't keep covering for his share as well as my own.

Everyone in our company just got a $150 bonus for achieving a good Q4 so how should I spend it?

I see on my statement how much principal is left to be paid on my loan, but if I send in that amount, won't I be short the interest I've been charged since my statement? Should I just overpay and hope for a refund? Note--this is not an amortization table question.

I forgot to cancel a standing order, which was originally being paid into my brothers account. When he closed it, I meant to stop the standing order -but I forgot. My online banking today shows the standing order coming out, with his name by it.

What will happen? Has my money just been sent into limbo!!?

I am married with a newborn. My wife does not know finance at all. I want to legally ensure that nobody, including family members, could prey upon her financially if I died. Also, I would like to inexpensively ensure that she would live comfortably forever on $1 million in life insurance proceeds. I might want for the insurance proceeds to be invested in a balanced Vanguard index fund portfolio and for her to spend 4% per year, adjusted for inflation. Spending a lot on planning for our very simple situtation is not my intent (we own zero real property). Thank you so much!

My husband and I are 29 yrs old, have 2 children and a house. I stay at home during the day suposedly 'taking care of the house'. I don't clean on a regular basis. I never pay my bills on time. In fact, we've had our phone shut off twice and the gas once. Its not that we don't have the money...my husband brings home $2400/ month and I bring home $1200/month.
I just simply don't pay our bills. We end up nickle and diming all our money away and never have anything to show for it. Except for bill collectors calling us (I just don't pick up the phone).
Then I end up not sleeping and worrying all day that our utilities are gonna be shut off.

How can I fix this? I love my home and our life so why can't I 'take care' of things better?

Is there a name for this problem?
