Me and My wife purchased a new house in late 2006, we have already received the mortgage interest notice from the Mortgage Company. However, we also received a mortgage interest statement for the company that closed the loan. Here's the deal, the company that closed the loan isn't the company that currently holds the loan. What should I do? I'm not quite sure on how to report the interest from the closing company. Thanks for the help in advance.

My husband and I are in deep debt. We talked to a consolidated but we didn't want to refinance our home and start all over again on a 30 year mortgage. He's been trying to find a part-time job but no one has called. I work on the weekend cleaning but I have a partner, therefore the money is split.. Do you all have any suggestions on what to do? Do not want to file bankruptcy.

Today i went up to a ATM in a local mall, punched in 60 bucks from my checking account. The thing spits out 4 20s - or 80 bucks. I was shocked. I counted it again. Sure enough. I think to myself real quick, well i must have hit 80 by mistake, the machine prints out my receipt and i look at it. It says withdrawel from checking $60. Will the bank catch this? Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Hey all I was told by a college financial advisor a couple years ago that by me taking out a stafford loan.. it is $2,700 that I would be able to claim something on my taxes and get a lot more of it back.. I no longer employ this person and never really got more information on it. I do have a stafford loan and am interested if there is a grant or a writeoff that can help pay that down like he was referring to.

Hello,
I installed a new furnace & also had my home insulated in 1999 & spent $7,000 to do so. I never took any sort of tax credit for this (not even sure if there was one available). Does anyone know if there was and if so can I file an amended return for this or is it too late? Thanks.

Is there any difference between loan sharks of old times, and the modern banks who charge 20% interest and hit you with monthly charges, late fess and penalties? How do these banks get away with it? Do they bribe the lawmakers to look the other way ?

OK, so in a few months I am going to be buying my first home. I am planning to keep $7,000 in my money market account as an emergency fund and to start saving for my property taxes and homeowners insurance when that comes due next year.

After all my bills, mortgage payment, credit card payment, car payment etc. I still have about 685 dollars left over. What do you think I should start doing with the money?? I am also getting married in about 8 months, and I would like to save for a nice honeymoon. I want to budget 5,000 dollars for that. Here are some of my other goals:

-open a Roth IRA
-pay off 2nd mortgage ($11,000)
-nice honeymoon in 8 months
-pay off car ($4600)
-pay off credit cards ($800)

How do you think I should start to allocate these funds that I have each month???
