No, your 401K needs to be funded by withholding money from your paychecks. That ended with the last check you received for 2006. Money withheld now is for 2007.
The April 15th funding is for IRA accounts not employer plans.

I believe you have until 4/15/07 to make contributions to retirement accounts for 2006 tax year.

No. You have until April 15th to file your taxes for 2006. Anything that you do with a date in 2007 goes for 2007. Hmmm silly how that makes sense!

401ks are funded with PRE-TAX money, meaning from your paycheck. So, no.

You CAN fund 2006 IRAs, if you're eligible, until 4/15/07.
