My finances are a mess! Due to extreme bank charges! I have just checked my online bank statement to find 138 pound worth of charges that has been taken over the last 4 days!!

I called my bank and was told i went over my account for 3 seperate occasions (resulting in a 30pound charge for each!) one of which was a 1.99 interest charge to them and they took 30 for that! they said it doesnt matter how little or large the amount is the charge still stands!

The other charge of 38pound is for a returned Direct debit there wasnt enough money in my account to pay so ive got

3 x30 charges and a 38 charges where do i stand this is terrible i dont have this sort of money to spare!!

Banks are no support at all and only assistance is to offer me a bigger overdraft or a credit card!! charming trying to push me into even further debt just to clear these charges!

what should i do?

I understand that life insurance money is not taxable, but the interested earned on this money is could I take the interested that has been earned in the account that I put the money in into my roth ira without having to pay taxes on this. I have been earning around 160.00 a month since June. Any other suggestions with this would be very helpful.

Hey

I won a bid on ebay, but the seller doesn’t take Paypal. Yeah, I know, tell me about it.

But they take, money order, or cashiers check. So, I’m thinking of going and getting a cashiers check from my bank. But my question is, the item that I won on ebay was sold in British Pounds, so I have to pay in that currency. Will my bank make out a cashiers check in British Pounds rather than US dollars?

I think the seller will accept personal checks but I just don’t feel comfortable giving such and not sure if a bank in England would even cash it. So like I said, would my bank (a US bank) make out a cashiers check to me in British Pounds, so that I can pay for my item and send off the payment?

Thanks for any help and your time.

Should I go in person or due it over the phone? I've heard some companies are scams and other's are more devious to your credit score. Also, how bad does it effect your credit? How many years does it stay on? Ok, thanks guys!

A PhD friend of mine who is 65 told me I should start drawing social security when I hit 62 instead of waiting. He says the present worth calculations will show this is better. I am qualified to draw the maximum amounts based on my past payments to the system. I do not have any other savings, and plan to continue working anyway as long as I can. Should I take his advice?
