I had a friend write me a check and I believe it got returned for insufficient funds. If he refuses to pay the amount, I understand he is still legally liable for the amount he agreed to pay me on the check. Where would I file a case if he refuses to pay? Do I need to go to small claims court or can I file it with some sort of district attorney?

I am thinking about starting my own business.

Right now I am a first year undergraduate; however I am not really enjoying my studies. I have always wanted to run my own business and I am thinking about leaving college to do so. I have heard a lot of "rags to riches" stories and stories about graduates who despite having degree can't get a well paid job.

Do you think that at my age it is possible to start a business? (I am 18 soon to be 19)

Maybe someone with experience can give me some pros and cons?

I have allready asked this in a different section but nobody answered so I'm asking it in this section too.

Or should I have a set of cards printed for each?

for a sideline writing biz? I already know about cold calling, placing ads, sending out promotional materials and word of mouth. What I'd like to know is -- how did you get jumpstart your biz and keep it afloat? A friend of mind just recently referred me to a client so that is a start for me! I want to offer my services in writing / proofreading / editing and copy writing. Journalism will not make me rich so I'm exploring other avenues to bring in $.

When International Debt is given to Third World countries, is it given directly as cash(assuming of course that the country in question adheres[or at least tries to] to whatever guidelines are set for them), or is it provided in the form of securities, stocks, bonds, and various structured financial products?

What can anyone tell me about those coins missing the "In God We Trust" inscription? Supposedly only X number we accidentally minted without it - aren't they worth some money? (I'm talking about the "Sacagawea" ones from Denver & Philadelphia)

Is this possible? Does the exchange rate make things cheaper to buy from USA? Assuming the package is not opened at customs. I'm asking because my friend is a personal shopper in the USA, who says she has customers in the UK. She says they buy from her because it is cheaper, even with her fee and shipping.
