Is this possible? Does the exchange rate make things cheaper to buy from USA? Assuming the package is not opened at customs. I'm asking because my friend is a personal shopper in the USA, who says she has customers in the UK. She says they buy from her because it is cheaper, even with her fee and shipping.

Name brand clothes are a lot cheaper in the US than here including trainers and other footwear. A pair of Classic Reeboks in the US costs about £35 compared to the £59.99 I recently saw advertised in a catalogue here.

I'm in the US from the UK now and having a ball shopping!

I was thinking though, you might also encounter customs taxes when posting to the UK though which I guess you would be liable to pay upon collection, depending of course on how much you are trying to get. My sister tried posting some items I already own from Australia to the UK and said I might even have to pay tax on that! Just be careful, especially with volume is all I'm saying! Your friend's customers wouldn't have to worry if they pay her to sort it all out for them I would have thought.

Happy hunting!

Yes, this what is interesting about FOREX (Foreign Exchange).
With the Pound and Euro worth more against the US Dollar, it gives those countries more buying power. In turn it helps the US Economy. It a give and take thing that works well.
China is making a killing off this.

yes i often go on holiday to America carrying empty cases and just buying clothes there. But you must remember the fashion there is not the same as here. Even better if you want stuff like ipods or laptops etc. i use bestbuy.com when you see the price difference it makes you sick to see what we have to pay.
