i once had an empty checking account. but i was really desperate for some money so i withdrew $400 from it anyways. believe it or not, the atm gave me the money! how is that possible? it went negative $400. i eventually deposited the money in the account to bring it back up, but i was surprised that it was possible to go negative on a checking account. is it legal to withdraw money from an empty checking account?

twenty minutes after posting i was answered by someone who said she was from moscow. i felt sophisticated that i would be doing something towards world peace, HA! turns out that this scam is known as the nigerian 419. first they get you to agree to some kind of transaction, then they send you, in my case wal-mart international money grams(which are real)for the deal you've made. then they want you send some of the money back to them, say for shipping personal belongings over. they sent thirty eight hundred and needed three thousand of it back. cept the money gramswere counterfeit, came from nigeria and these people now had my phone number, name and address. they tried to get me to wire them back through western union. luckily my bank is returning the money grams to me and not turning me into a criminal like the people who i thought were going to be new friends from far and away. it has only cost me ten dollars in fees with my bank. so beware you all.

I am trying to sell my sidekicks. I posted it on craigslist.org & someone from another city wants to buy it but needs it immediatley for a "birthday gift" for his son. I see scam written all over this so I am trying to find a safe, fast and cheap way I can get him to wire money to me so we can have a smooth transaction without anyone getting scammed. I am trying to schedule a conference call with an outside vendor, my boss and me. I have never used the phone to do a conference call. I learn the steps from my boss and try it 3 times but can not set it up. So my boss comes over to my desk and sets it up. I was doing somethng wrong. My boss goes back to her phone and as soon as she gets on the line tell the vendor "finally we are on, she is from India, I had to go set it up". I immediately said dont be so insulting. She said I am joking I like Indians. The vendor was speechless, said nothing. We went on with the conference call. After the call, I tell her so I am from India and bring up the topic. She said she was joking. She respects Indian and thinks they are intelligent. You think this kind of comment is joking specially to a vendor. I have another coworker who keeps saying the Indian guy on American Idol can not sing. Indians cant sing. I laugh at that cause I feel it pertains to someone I dont know and also because it can be true

Everywhere I go I see that no one accepts "starter checks". But if no one accepts them, how are you supposed to get a checking account going?

Name me some companies that can say for 100% sure MADE IN THE USA. I know that they are getting fewer and fewer. A local manufacturing company in our hometown has just closed and is moving its entire US operation overseas...Paxar who makes the labels for your clothes that tell you the size and etc. I now only buy New Balance shoes because they are made 100% in the USA and I would like to find many more items strictly made in the USA which I know is very limited but it would be nice to make your money stay in the US.

Received a notice that I won $$$$ as a result of their monthly Global Draw held in Dublin, Ireland. They also sent a check for over $2K drawn on a bank in Winston Salem, NC to cover the tax and administrative expenses (International Clearance fees) involved with the winnings. I called the # provided and was told to deposit the check and when it clears to call them back and they will then tell me where to send this $2K. They didn't ask for a c/c number or any personal information. The check is ligitimate, but I am very skeptical ......... Anyone else out there receive anything like this?

In Japan, people maninly use bank transfer. The fees are not that high as PayPal. In America, is paying through bank transfer uncommon? I know PayPal is easy and fast, but I feel PayPal fees are quite high.
