Perhaps the best way to do this is to take a look at the coins of the era. A Russian 5 Ruble coin of the period contained 6.54 grams (.210 ounces) of 22 Karat gold. That same gold is worth US$134.58 at today's gold spot price. At that rate, 6000 rubles in gold coin of the time would be worth US$161,498 today.

By comparison, a US$5 gold coin of the period contained about .238 ounces of gold, which would indicate that the two currencies were worth nearly the same at that time.

I hope this helps you some.

I always use the converter at www.xe.com/ucc , that is the best.
6,000.00 RUB = 229.533 USD
Russia Rubles United States Dollars
1 RUB = 0.0382555 USD 1 USD = 26.1400 RUB
The years don't matter, so if you want the value of the actual 1864 rubles that you have, you need to get them appraised, you can't do that with an online currency converter. Go to a coin shop.
