The concepts behind things like Google and Youtube fascinate me. Can someone explain to me why these businesses generate multi-millions in revenue every year?

I know Google has a few adds here and there that might pick up a few dollars but multiple millions on top of millions? I don't understand.

And how does Youtube work? I'll admit I'm as business savvy as a swamp rock but I can't understand how Youtube is such an enormously valuable company (or part of Google now, w/e). They aren't selling anything, why are they worth so much?

I'm totally stumped, anyone care to enlighten me?

A standby l/c was opened in Singapore. The beneficiary stated on the letter is a bank in the US. Who should receive the original of the l/c? If the person in Singapore who applied for the l/c (who is not the beneficiary) asks the bank to give him the original so he can mail it to the US bank (the beneficiary), can the Singapore bank do so? Should such a request be in writing on the l/c itself?

I'm not a collector, I just need about $10 worth of Canadian postage stamps to send something from Canada to the US. CanadaPost does not sell postage online to US customers. Anyone have any ideas?

I saw that a couple of times on the news in the last five years. Why don't any of the tellers tell these would-be robbers to take a hike?

The product is in a sense, "sliced bread." I didn't invent bread and I didn't invent slicing.

I don't know anything about the technology, but it will take two pieces of technology put together in a way I have not seen before.

If I purchased a truck @ $45,000 with 5 years of expected life and $5,000 salvage value. What would be the depreciation expense taken each year? Also, what would be my book value @ the end of the 4th year?

This is my current logic. Can someone pls confirm?

Part I
45,000-5,000 = 40,000/5yrs

(8,000 will be taken each year)

Part II

My aswer is $8,000 book value, but my quesiton is, do I now add the salvage value of $5000 to this $8000 value?

I am doing fundraising for my cousin's family and have called it a fund. Most people have been writing checks to me and I will turn over the money to my cousin, but unfortunately I have gotten a few checks written out to the fund, which doesn't technically exist. Will I be able to cash them by signing my name, or do I need to go through all of the extensive paperwork to create the fund before I can get the money from the checks?

If the US economy hard lands, and demand in the rest of the world unravels, China's export growth would be seriously bruised.

Hi, I am starting a ltd company with 2 friends. I live with my parents and they rent flats. We have looked into setting up the company and having the company's registered address at the accountants that we register with.

So if the registered address is with them and the correspondence/ banking address is with one of us, what implications does that have on the address that we use as the correspondence address. Will I mess up my parents' capital gains/insurance/mortgage on their property just by having a business correspondence address there? Would it be better to use my friends' rental addresses?
Thanks
