There are two mints that make all of the coins. The origination of a coin can be determined by a small "D" fore Denver or "P" for Philadelphia. There used to be an "S" for San Francisco but the San Francisco mint does not produce coins any more. The San Francisco and Denver mints were established during the "Gold Rush" eras for those areas. The Philadelphia mint is the oldest and first US mint

there is one in Washington DC it is called the mint where paper and coins are made , They make money for all states .. If you ever go to DC go to the mint you will love it ..
