More than likely its a scam. Cashing the check with provide the party that issued the check the necessary information to access your bank account. Look for tiny, tiny printing anywhere on the check or the letter, it will state that its somehow a solicitation or that by cashing the check you give authorization for them to debit your account. If not, contact the issuer and ask them how you came to be entered in their drawing.

Yes very much so honey, do not be fooled about checks that are being sent out to your mail box. Did you see how on yahoo news a man was just arrested by trying to cash a check signed by God? You can be that person for trying to cash a bad check as well.

If you received a cheque take it too a bank. If they say you ve won but havent sent a cheque its probably a scam
